Cindy Walker moved from her
native Mexia, Texas, to California in the 1940's to find her place in
the sun as a songwriter, and met with success seldom equalled. Although
she sang and appeared a bit in films, this gracious Texas lady is known
worldwide for songs which have become standards, among them You
Don't Know Me, In The Misty Moonlight, Distant
Drums, and Warm Red Wine. More specifically in the
western vein, she wrote a number of classics for Bob Wills (Miss
Molly, Dusty Skies, Cherokee Maiden,
Don't Be Ashamed of Your Age, and Bubbles in My Beer),
and for Gene Autry (Blue Canadian Rockies, Silver Spurs)
as well.
